Old Pix from 1985/ Photos de 1985

I have just packaged and burned my pages for the NELLIGAN anthology under the direction of Christian Quesnel. I am very happy about the results. I have worked on these collages since August of 2010. Here is a discarded author's pix for the biography section. In this picture of me taken in 1982, I was close to twenty, about the same age that the poet Nelligan entered the asylum for the rest of his life. While scanning that neg, I managed to scan some other older negatives (which I plan to continue doing. I have negatives ranging from 1980 to 2006). Of course this is a collage and I added myself in with this lovely lady with a generous smile.

Je viens tout juste de terminer mes pages pour le collectif sur Nelligan (sous la direction de Christian Quesnel) qui sera publié chez PL en 2012. Je suis très content des résultats. Je travaille sur ces collages depuis août 2010. Ci-haut, voici une de trois photos d'auteur réalisées pour la section des biographies. En 1982, alors que je travaillais comme graphiste pour la société historique du centre du Québec, j'ai réalisé une émission pour le cable dans laquelle je jouais en costume de l'époque de Nelligan. Coincidence, j'ai à peu près le même âge sur la photo que Nelligan quand il fut interné. J'ai inséré mon portrait dans une image érotique de l'époque.

La plupart des images suivantes furent prisent en 1985 dans l'hotel Renaissance en face du planétarium de Montréal. Cet hotel avec une salle de bal immense n'existe plus. À l'époque, moi, Michel Robitaille, Paul Bernier, Luc Gagnon et Michel Martineau, ont investissais ces lieux abondonnés pour improviser des tableaux photographiques.

Almost all these images were done in 1985 in the hotel Renaissance situated in front of the Montreal planetarium. This hotel had a huge ballroom. It doesn't exist anymore but at the time, a lot of homeless people, art students and photographers would drop by. In those days, a group of photographer friends (Michel Robitaille, Paul Bernier, Michel Martineau and Luc Gagnon) would get into those old abandoned hotels and factories. Once in, we would improvise surreal scenes and take pictures (we had lots of fun).
